Project TEN of the Jewish Agency is recruiting:
Professionals from the medical field (Physiotherapy, Occupational and Speech therapy) to join volunteer missions in Ghana and Uganda throughout 2023
Project TEN of the Jewish Agency is an international development project that operates volunteer centers focusing on educational activity in Israel and in countries around the world. Young Israelis and Jews come to the volunteering centers for a program that combines volunteering with the local population and an educational curriculum in the fields of international development, social involvement, Jewish identity, and activism.
These days Project TEN is launching a new and unique volunteer track in the field of health, rehabilitation and disabilities intended for professionals from the allied medical field (physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy) who will volunteer in their relevant profession. During 2023, one-month cohorts will fly out to Uganda and Ghana 3 times throughout the year: February, June, October.
Volunteering job description:
- Volunteering in rehabilitation and medical clinics 4-5 days a week, including:
- Training of local staff and/or professional representatives in the field.
- Sharing theoretical/practical knowledge by delivering a lecture/workshop.
- Providing care to patients for demonstration purposes to local staff.
- Home visits with local staff.
- Volunteering within the educational format of Project TEN.
- Transferring professional content to Project TEN volunteers who are on the long term volunteer trip.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in at least one of these allied medical professions (Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy, Speech therapy).
- At least two years of experience working in the field of rehabilitation (neurological/orthopedic, children/adults), disabilities (children/adults).
- Valid professional license.
- Recommendations from previous employers.
- Motivation and passion for teaching and guiding.
- Motivation and passion to take part in the establishment delegation and development processes.
- Coping ability, flexibility, problem solving and creativity at work.
- Curiosity and interest in working in a different cultural environment.
- Active participation in the preparation days before leaving for the volunteering trip.
- Participation in content and enrichment activities on behalf of project TEN.
- English at a good level.
- Advantage – familiarity and experience in living/ traveling in developing countries.
Conditions:
Accommodation, food, transportation and security costs are the responsibilities of Project TEN.
Flight costs, medical insurance, vaccinations/medications, visa, free weekends – are the responsibility of the volunteer.
